Project Overview
Amherst, MA – SES served as the Commissioning Authority (CxA) for the renovation of the Conte Lab B225 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Originally updated in 2019 to support polymer research, the lab underwent further modifications requiring a comprehensive commissioning process to confirm system functionality and readiness for research activities.
SES conducted a thorough assessment of the lab’s mechanical systems, identifying any loose ends in construction and ensuring all HVAC and controls systems met operational requirements. Working alongside a Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) firm, SES performed airflow measurements and calibration checks, refining system performance to align with the space’s specific research needs.
As part of the commissioning process, SES reviewed and tested the lab’s control system, verifying setpoints and sequences for optimal operation. The project concluded with the delivery of a detailed lab systems summary, outlining existing conditions, key operational parameters, and recommendations for long-term performance improvements.
