Project Overview
Cambridge, MA – Designed to address two of today’s toughest issues – the climate crisis and the need for affordable housing – Finch Cambridge is a multifamily housing building located in Cambridge, MA. LEED v4 Multifamily and Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) certified, the building boasts advanced energy efficiency features such as energy recovery ventilators, variable refrigerant flow fan coil units, and high-efficiency natural gas water heaters. Designed to prioritize occupant health, comfort, and minimize environmental impact, Finch Cambridge sets a new standard for sustainable multifamily housing. The development’s commitment to energy performance led to its full certification under the PHIUS+ 2015 rating system, demonstrating resilience against climate hazards while addressing the pressing need for affordable, eco-friendly housing.
The Finch Cambridge project was one of the first Passive House-certified developments SES completed in Boston, MA, marking a significant milestone in sustainable construction and requiring our team to meet rigorous standards in energy efficiency and indoor air quality. Achieving this certification brought unique challenges that demanded a deep understanding of Passive House requirements and a coordinated team effort.
