Project Overview
New London, CT – The largest theater on Connecticut College’s campus, Palmer Auditorium, underwent both architectural and MEP renovations starting in 2020. The Art Deco venue includes a 1,300-seat auditorium, stage, lobby areas, dressing areas, teaching studios and office spaces. The exterior renovations including cleaning and repointing of existing masonry, new windows, doorways, and roofing system. SES provided commissioning services for this renovation. Mechanical systems include a steam to hot water heat exchanger and chilled water system fed directly from the main campus loop. Two single zone variable air volume air handling units provided heating, cooling and ventilation to the auditorium and stage areas. One multizone variable air volume air handling unit serves variable air volume boxes with reheat in the surrounding offices, classrooms, and common spaces. Exhaust fans, unit heaters, split system A/Cs, lighting controls, fire alarm and access control systems were included in the commissioning scope.
