Project Overview
Beaver, WV – The National Mine Health and Safety Academy is one of eight Federal academies operated by the U.S. Government. With a goal of reducing accidents and hazards in mining, the academy is focused on providing instructional programs. The Academy complex includes classrooms and laboratories accommodating 600 students, a residence hall of 174 lodging rooms, a cafeteria, library, auditorium, and wellness facilities. SES provided commissioning services for this 300,000-square-foot facility as part of a large-scale energy conservation project for this Department of Labor mining training facility. The scope of work included commissioning of all HVAC systems, central heating and cooling plants, air handling systems, terminal devices, general exhaust, master conservation devices, lighting control system, domestic hot water heating systems and the building automation system.
