University of Bridgeport HSC Building Boiler Plant

Project Overview

Bridgeport, CT – SES was asked by the University of Bridgeport to perform a limited investigative review of the boiler plant in the HSC building, with regards to a history of the boilers experiencing cracking of their cast iron sections.  The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the proposal by a mechanical contractor that outlined re-piping of the heating hot water return piping to the boilers, within the primary loop, as a means to resolve the repeated cracking of the cast iron sections in the boilers that have taken place over a number of years. Our troubleshooting efforts were successful in finding the cause of the concern and remedied future challenges.
