Project Overview
South Kingstown, RI – SES provided commissioning services for recent renovations at the University of Rhode Island’s Pharmaceutical Development Institute (PDI), a 7,000-square-foot Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility designed to support pharmaceutical production for clinical trials. The upgrades focused on optimizing lab systems to meet revised user requirements while maintaining compliance with U.S. FDA and EU guidelines.
As part of the project, SES oversaw modifications to the lab’s ductwork, ensuring all spaces were connected to a single air handling unit (AHU) and performed system rebalancing. SES performed functional testing of control system modifications, validated Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) results, and provided training for facility staff on system operations.
Additionally, SES conducted a retro-commissioning assessment of the existing AHU, confirming its performance and developing a comprehensive systems manual. This process identified opportunities for efficiency improvements and long-term system optimization, ensuring the facility remains a state-of-the-art environment for pharmaceutical manufacturing and research.
