Project Overview

Middletown, CT – SES provided retro-commissioning services for two historic academic buildings on Wesleyan University’s campus: Olin Library, built in 1928 and expanded in 1980, and Fisk Hall, constructed in 1904 with numerous renovations since. The project focused on improving the performance and energy efficiency of the buildings’ primary systems. Implemented measures included installing variable frequency drives (VFDs) on air handling unit fan motors, programming static pressure setpoint resets, replacing outside air dampers, and enhancing economizer parameters. These improvements resulted in annual cost savings of nearly $48,000, with a simple payback of 3.4 years, or 1.4 years with incentives. SES also completed a Post-Implementation Project Verification (PIPV) phase, providing an Implementation Verification Report that documented the measures, energy and demand savings, and payback calculations.
