Quality assurance and Diagnostic Water Leakage Field Check of Installed Storefronts, Curtain Walls, and Sloped Glazing Systems

This water leakage test is the most commonly specified. This method is intended for storefronts, curtain walls, and sloped glazing systems. It is not appropriate for testing operable windows and doors. This test is normally performed over a minimum area of 100 ft² and includes the edge of the glass surface and any places where the frame is horizontal, vertical, or intersecting. Water is sprayed through a calibrated nozzle, one foot away from the specimen and applied at one minute per foot of specimen. A technician on the opposite side monitors the interior of the specimen and checks for any leaks. Any amount of water greater than ½ ounce over the course of 5 minutes is considered a failure.
